The Collins House bed-and-breakfast, 704 E. Gorham St., closed last Sunday. On the inn’s Web site, operators Barb and Mike Pratzel announced the demise of the business “with heavy heart and considerable reluctance.”

The Collins House is owned by the city of Madison, which did not renew the Pratzels’ 20-year lease. “They decided at the end of it that rather than lease, they wanted to sell,” says Barb Pratzel.
