Hike To The Falls

Sarah Wilcox spent 20 years working in and visiting the DeSoto Falls, Mentone, AL area, so when she bought a B&B there in 1996 she already knew about the beauty of the area. She renamed the B&B, Mountain Laurel Inn and began to offer a two-night Waterfalls Tours Package to show her guests the seven waterfalls within walking or driving distance of the B&B.

2nd Generation B&B

The Dockside Guest Quarters was opened to meet a need of visiting yachtsmen to the coast of Maine. David Lusty purchased the Harris Island in 1953 to operate a marina but found the yachtsmen needed accomodation. The land came with a run-down 15 room house which he converted into rental rooms. The accomodation has since grown to a 25 room lodging business and restaurant. Whilst Davis and his wife, Harriette have since retired their son Eric and his wife, Carol run the guest quarters and another son, Philip and his wife Anne run the restauarant. The transition has been smooth with the inn retaining the original charm as created by their parents.

Years of Research

Bob & Linda Humphrey spent 10 years finding out what B&B guests wanted by travelling from one bed and breakfast to another. After that they felt they had enough information and opened Shiloh Morning Inn in 1999 and are now adding two new cottages. Once these cottages are open there will be 4 cottages and five suites in the main house. The accomodation has luxurious touches with ice machines outside each room, oversized tubs and the new cottages have private patios.
