A 145-year-old home that had come close to being demolished has been restored and converted into a bed-and-breakfast. Odds and ends must be completed before the grand opening of The Inn at the Old Republic on Thursday. But that’s nothing compared to the lobbying, grant-writing, hauling, sanding, painting and drywalling it has taken over the past seven years to restore the Italianate mansion, historical society members say.
